Beyonce and Kelly Rowland Add Sizzle to Macy's 2006 Glamorama Wednesday May 17, 11:49 am ET Ticket On-Sale Announced for Annual Fashion Charity Event in Chicago and Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 2006--Multi-platinum recording artist and Hollywood sensation Beyonce Knowles and fellow Grammy-award winning Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland will headline Macy's Glamorama. Beyonce will take the stage at the Chicago Theatre on September 29, and Kelly Rowland will headline the Minneapolis event at the Orpheum Theatre on September 21. Both artists will perform songs from their new solo albums releasing this year. As honorary chairs of Glamorama, Beyonce and her mother Tina Knowles will introduce their contemporary clothing line, House of Dereon, which will make its runway debut during the show's grand finale.
"We are excited to launch our new fall line at the most anticipated, headline-making fashion event in Chicago and Minneapolis--Macy's Glamorama," said House of Dereon founder and creative director Tina Knowles. "It is an honor for us to showcase along side some of the most talented designers in the industry."
On September 28, Beyonce and Tina will make a personal appearance during the opening of the first House of Dereon in-store shop in the country at Macy's on State Street. In addition, Tina plans to sign copies of her book.
In Chicago tickets go on sale to the public on June 1st and can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 312-902-1500. In Minneapolis tickets go on sale to the public June 26th and can be purchased through the Children's Cancer Research Fund at 952-893-9355, the State Theatre Box Office, or by calling Ticketmaster at 651-989-5151. Tickets range in price from $50-$1,000.
This year, Glamorama becomes the "Glamosphere," a cultural evolution of high fashion and beat fusion--a supernova of style and sound from around the world. Glamorama goers will experience cutting edge fall fashion from the industry's top designers including Marc Jacobs, Badgley Mischka, Just Cavalli, Ralph Lauren, D&G, Temperley and more. Other musical acts include horn-blasting salsa fusion from indie band Ozomatli and krumping in true hip-hop style with Tommy the Clown.
Tyler Florence, Macy's Culinary Council chef, Food Network star and cookbook author, will host this year's post-party in Chicago, guiding attendees through destination stations of street food from around the Glamosphere.
Glamorama History
Glamorama, which debuted as Marshall Field's Fash Bash in Minneapolis in 1992 and in Chicago in 1999, raises money to support cancer research and the arts. Over the past seven years, Glamorama has raised nearly $2 million for The Art Institute of Chicago, and over the past 14 years, Glamorama has contributed more than $3 million to Children's Cancer Research Fund in Minneapolis.
